Activity Start Date and End Date: January 16,2025- January 15,2027.

Implemented by: The Ethiopian Institute of Peace (EIP).
Target areas: Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray regional States
Ultimate Outcome: Strengthened social cohesion and peaceful coexistence among the different identity lines in Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray Regions

Intermediate Outcomes outcome:

• Strengthened inclusive and accessible peacebuilding structures in Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, and                   Tigray regions
• Increased representation and meaningful participation of ethnic groups (particularly women and                   youth) in peaceful resolution of conflicts in Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray regions

Key stakeholders: Peace and Security and Women and Social Affairs Bureaus

Target Beneficiaries: Experts in the peace and security lines and women and social affairs offices, actors in the customary institutions, demobilized women x-combatants, elders, women, youth, and trauma affected community members.

Main Activities of the Project

• Establish/strengthen peace committees
• Establish joint peace committees
• Provide conflict early warning and early response (CEWER) for peace and security experts, women and social affairs officers, and peace committee members
• Provide conflict management training to elders
• Provide conflict sensitivity training to zonal and woreda stakeholders
• Provide culture of peace training for youth
• Provide dialogue facilitation skills training for community representatives
• Conduct intracommunity dialogues
• Conduct intercommunity dialogues
• Organize public forums
• Establish and train women and youth peace advocates
• Organize interregional peace conference
• Conduct trauma healing facilitators training
• Conduct community-based trauma healing sessions
• Provide life skills trainings to trauma affected individuals
• Provide entrepreneurship and small business management skills training
• Provide seed money to trauma survivors, victims of SGBV, and demobilized women x-combatants.
