EIP with financial support from Mercy Corps- Ethiopia, conducted conflict-sensitive decision-making training for woreda head administrative and peace and security office those who selected from, West and East Hararge zones from Oromia regional state and 4 woredas under those zones, Fafen, Shinille, and Jarar zones from Somali regions and 11 woredas under those zones and Zone-1 and Zone-2 from Afar region and 7 woredas under those zones.

EIP was delivered a 9 days (3 days for each regional state) conflict-sensitive decision-making training throughout the selected three regional states in three different clusters namely cluster-1 at Harar town for Oromia, trainees, cluster-2 at Jigjiga town for Somali trainees, and cluster-3 at Semera town for Afar trainees.

The training aimed to contribute a lot on capacity gap about conflict sensitive decision-making process since the trainees were top leaders and they are making and broker of many decision while they serve their communities, therefore, this training helps them to be aware of conflict-sensitive decisions-making, by giving awareness about conflict sensitive-decision techniques and communication skills. Which is helpful for them to avoid conflict and other good governance problems related to lack of conflict sensitivity decision-making acts. Which will contribute a positive effect on the peacebuilding process. The training participant was 96 in number (24, from Oromia, 48, from Somali, and 34 from Afar) those were purposely selected from regional, Zonal & woreda peace and security, crime prevention, and milisha office and were chief of each office. In addition to the aforementioned objective, the training contributes its own effect to support coordination and communication efforts among and between key peace institutions and law enforcement units since these offices working together and support each other to bring together and capacitate their conflict-sensitive decision-making skills and to discuss and institutionalize possible areas of cooperation communication protocols to jointly prevent crime and ensure sustainable peace among and between the selected areas even out of their areas. Having this kind of training for the sectors will play a key role in ensuring sustainable peace and to smooth relationships between them which help them to develop and upsurge their technical and psychological capacity for the process of building sustainable peace which is the key milestones of the project. This training was organized for three days for each cluster, for cluster-1 from April 08-10/05/2021 at Harar, for cluster-2 from May 21-23/05/2021 at Jigjiga, and for cluster-3 from June 02-04/06/2021 at Semera Afar, Ethiopia.
